location: buccleuch park
I caught up with the Lords of Liechtenstein front man after watching his acoustic set at a poster sale on College Avenue. He was trembling a little, no doubt from having to yell out "Come to the poster sale!" to passerbys. But like many musicians I've seen, the nervous start quickly transformed to an epic finish.
After some Bob Marley and Matchbox 20 covers, he played a few originals, singing about love and hate and boredom and beauty and every thing else that could be both aesthetically pleasing and gut wrenching about the world.
Dan recorded his Wanderer Session at the Buccleuch Park entrance; a spot with a crumbling stone bench and cleanly kept flowers blooming purple and gold below the sun; a spot amplified in its odd splendor by Dan's lone performance of "From My Hilltop In The Dark," becoming a weird but beautiful mixture of sight and sound both telling a story of love gained and love lost.
